Ethereum wallet risk check: ETH and ERC20

Ethereum wallets can accumulate risk through direct counterparties, token movements, sanctions exposure, and repeated interaction with known high-risk services.

Common Ethereum risk sources

Typical Ethereum risk signals include interaction with sanctioned addresses, known mixer contracts, phishing or scam labels, suspicious token flows, and repeated transfers through wallets with poor attribution.

Because Ethereum also carries a large share of DeFi activity, context matters: not every interaction is risky, but unexplained exposure can still justify review.

Stablecoin context

Many operational reviews on Ethereum involve USDT or USDC movements. In those cases, screeners should look not only at the destination wallet but also at the broader transfer path, timing, and counterparties that appear around the movement.

Practical review steps

Check the wallet before sending. Review the score, provider mode, and source-of-funds split. If there is a known entity match or suspicious flow pattern, confirm the business purpose of the transfer before proceeding.

Choose the right check for an Ethereum address

For the ETH workflow, select ETH in the checker. For USDT on Ethereum, select ERC20. An address starting with 0x can also be used on other EVM networks, so its format alone does not establish which chain a payment used. Confirm the network from the transaction details before screening.

An AML address check is different from a token-approval audit or a smart-contract security review. A low AML score does not tell you whether a token approval is safe, whether a contract can drain funds, or whether the person requesting payment is genuine. Never disclose a seed phrase or private key to obtain a risk score.
